Paskwietz Leads UCSD to Comeback Victory
Greg Paskwietz scored all of his 15 points in the second half and Kevin Stewart scored 13 of his team-high 19 points after halftime as UC San Diego rallied for a 77-63 nonconference victory Wednesday over Pomona Pitzer at UCSD.
The Tritons (9-4) shot only 38% from the floor and trailed, 33-29, at halftime before coming back to give Pomona Pitzer its 11th loss in 13 games.
Andy Wagstaff scored 17 points and had 10 rebounds for UCSD. David Todd scored 19 points to lead Pomona Pitzer.
HALL OF CHAMPIONS
Triple jumper Willie Banks and former San Diego State and Charger wide receiver Gary Garrison have been chosen as the newest members of the San Diego Hall of Champions’ Hall of Fame.
Banks and Garrison will be inducted during the annual Salute to the Champions dinner March 22 at the Town & Country Convention Center.
Banks, a graduate of Oceanside High School, is the world record-holder in the triple jump with a leap of 58 feet 11 1/2 inches in 1985. Garrison was San Diego State’s most valuable player in 1964 and 1965 and was a three-time All-Pro during his 11-year (1966-76) career with the Chargers.
