Browns Can’t Even Get Out of Town
DENVER — A chartered airliner carrying the Cleveland Browns football team aborted its takeoff from Stapleton International Airport Sunday night because of an unspecified engine problem, a Stapleton official said.
The Browns, who lost to the Denver Broncos, 38-33, in the AFC championship game Sunday afternoon, were aboard an L-1011 jet that had begun its takeoff roll when the crew noticed a problem with an engine in the tail of the aircraft, said Kevin Fleming, airport operations manager.
Fleming said he was not certain how fast the airplane was traveling when the takeoff was aborted, but he said it did not appear the aircraft had been in any serious danger.
Fleming said the plane was returned to its gate while the problem was being investigated. It was not known immediately when the flight would depart.
