Driver Dies as Metal Hits Windshield
A Fullerton man was killed Thursday when a roll of sheet metal apparently fell off a truck and went through his car windshield as he was driving on Interstate 5 near Norwalk, the California Highway Patrol said.
Robert K. Karasawa, 65, was traveling north on the Santa Ana Freeway when a rolled-up aluminum garage door crashed through his windshield and caused the car to crash into a guardrail. Officials said the metal apparently fell off another vehicle on the highway.
Authorities said Karasawa was alone in the car and was driving about 55 m.p.h. when the accident occurred about 9:30 a.m.
