Jockey Patricia Cooksey, who is five wins...
Jockey Patricia Cooksey, who is five wins away from becoming the world’s winningest female jockey, will be sidelined until at least Saturday due to stitches in her left leg.
Cooksey, 29, was kicked by a horse during a morning workout Thursday at Latonia Race Course in Florence, Ky. Doctors closed the gash with 25 stitches.
The Daily Racing Form reported this week that Cooksey’s official win total is 1,198, one higher than has been previously credited to her.
Patti Barton holds the record with 1,202 victories.
