Capistrano Valley Keeps the Top Spot
Capistrano Valley High School maintained its top ranking in the Orange County Sportswriters’ Assn. prep basketball poll for the third consecutive week despite a three-point victory over Irvine last week.
Mater Dei remained ranked third despite losing to Bishop Amat, 70-56, last Friday. The loss snapped the Monarchs’ 55-game Angelus League winning streak, second longest in Southern Section history.
In the featured game of the week, fourth-ranked El Toro will play host to Capistrano Valley at 7:30 Friday.
