Fullerton Plays Pacific in Winless Matchup
Cal State Fullerton and the University of the Pacific both are off to 0-7 starts and are tied for last place in the Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. basketball race, but Fullerton may have at least one advantage when the teams play tonight at 7:35 at Titan Gym:
A coach.
Pacific lost its coach Tuesday when Tom O’Neill resigned, reportedly under pressure, after 5 1/2 seasons. Assistants Denis Willens and Jerry Miller are expected to coach the Tigers, who have a 10-game losing streak, tonight.
The Titans (4-12) have been close often, having lost four conference games by six points or fewer, but then so have the Tigers (5-12), who have lost three conference games by five or fewer points.
Fullerton’s seven-game losing streak is its longest since 1980-81, when the Titans lost 13 in a row and finished 4-23.
