THE PREPS : Angelus League Basketball : St. Paul Takes Down Servite, 71-67
Jason Hart scored 17 points, including four three-point baskets, to lead St. Paul High School to a 71-67 victory over Servite in an Angelus League basketball game Friday night at St. Paul.
Servite (11-8, 1-5) opened a 27-17 lead early in the second quarter, but St. Paul (15-4, 4-2) cut the deficit to 40-38 at halftime. The Swordsmen took the lead by outscoring the Friars, 16-10, in the third quarter.
Nick Marusich had 12 points and 18 rebounds for Servite. Brook Hanson scored a team-high 17 points for the Friars.
Marty Tourville scored 18 points for St. Paul.
Mater Dei 67, Bishop Montgomery 46--Mike Hopkins scored 18 points to lead Mater Dei (14-5, 5-1) at Chapman College. The victory moved the Monarchs into a first-place tie with Bishop Amat, which lost to St. Bernard, 70-65. Mater Dei outscored Bishop Montgomery, 17-5, in the second quarter to take a 28-10 halftime lead. Kevin Rembert had 12 points and 14 rebounds for Mater Dei.
