Airport
I thought the renaming of Orange County Airport to John Wayne Airport was the final stop in celebrity worship, but along comes Edythe Ernst (Letters, Jan. 19) and her suggestion to rename Los Angeles International Bob Hope Airport. Edythe, wake up and smell the jet fuel. This idea is as appetizing as airline food and equally as nourishing.
While Hope may qualify through other channels, his tireless support of the U.S. death machine and mind-numbing titillation of those in uniform fail to paint him as a great humanitarian.
As for America’s appreciation, Hope has banked more than enough thanks and dollars for “the memories.”
