Lynwood : 13 Elected to Renewal Panel
Thirteen people, including community activists, businessmen and residents, have been elected to serve on the project area committee of the Lynwood Redevelopment Agency. The committee is scheduled to hold its first organizational meeting at 7 p.m. Feb. 11 at City Hall to choose officers.
Formation of the committee, which was initiated late last month, is necessary to oversee the proposed expansion of the Redevelopment Agency project area, according to Kenrick Karefa-Johnson, senior city planner.
Committee members were elected from a group of about 80 residents who attended a public meeting Jan. 28. They are David Quinn, Princetta Snow, Elizabeth J. Keaveney, Ruby J. Obey, Felix Vargas, John Buckner, Arnold Luster, Berndt-Lohr Schmidt, Robert M. Lillquist, Lynton C. Hurdle, Bernard H. Lake, Joel Henry and Margaret Araujo.
The agency has proposed expanding existing redevelopment projects throughout the city to include industrial, commercial, residential and vacant land. The newly proposed projects will total nearly 170 acres.
