Creans’ Mansion
Re your Jan. 28 article titled “Home Wreckers”: I am appalled at the Creans’ tasteless display of wealth and waste. Thousands are without a roof over their heads and families with children are living in cars, but instead of considering donating and moving the unwanted house--perhaps to be used as a county shelter or community center--the Creans throw a party wherein the “fun” consists of destroying a perfectly usable dwelling.
Sure, it was their property to dispose of. And it’s not illegal to be completely devoid of social conscience. But I expected better of The Times. I think it was the epitome of callousness to devote a front page, pictures and all, to such a vulgar display when there is such a desperate need for shelter for so many unfortunate citizens of Orange County.
