Yuba City police were investigating the fatal beating of an elderly disabled man whose body was found in his ramshackle home. The victim, Clarence C. Edmonds, 76, suffered a fractured skull from one or more blows to the head with a blunt object, police said. Edmonds, who had been dead for about 12 hours, was partially paralyzed and sometimes used a wheelchair, a Yuba City police officer said. The officer, Lt. Art Brandwood, said Edmonds was popular in his neighborhood, which was near the Yuba-Sutter fairgrounds.
