Tidal Wave of Public Concern Over Water Use

As a multigeneration native of Los Angeles, reading an article like “Down the Drain” makes me angrier than I’ve been in a long time. Mayor Bradley and his minions have let development go unbridled for years. This is the real source of water problems and most other problems in this city. Due to the excessive development, so that a few politicians and developers could line their greedy pockets, the quality of life in this city has vastly deteriorated.

Water pollution and scarcity, traffic pollution, noise pollution, rudeness pollution, etc., have increased 1,000-fold during Bradley’s Administration. This is due to excessive and unneeded development--wherein “foreign” developers want to make L.A. like the places back East that they’ve left behind--and an invasion of people from other parts of the country. I for one greatly resent being told to curtail my water usage so that another ridiculously tall office tower can go up, tying up traffic and parking spaces--as they never create enough--so another New Yorker or Midwesterner can have an apartment, clog my streets, be rude to me on the road and use my water.

Not so long ago Los Angeles used to be known for its civilized drivers and courteous service personnel. This is no longer the case. When too many rats are crowded in a cage, they go crazy and feed on each other. That’s exactly what’s happening here. If this sounds xenophobic, selfish or elitist, so be it. I wish they would all go home.
