The Newspaper Guild postponed ratifying its contract...
The Newspaper Guild postponed ratifying its contract with the New York Post, possibly snagging the sale of the 187-year-old newspaper to real estate developer Peter Kalikow. In taking the action, the guild cited what it said was Kalikow’s refusal to personally guarantee severance pay. But Kalikow spokesman denied the union’s charge, and said the postponement would not affect the sale. Kalikow has agreed to buy the tabloid for $37.6 million from Australian-born media baron Rupert Murdoch.
