Local News in Brief : County Worker Killed Near Big Tujunga Dam
A Los Angeles county employee driving to work at the Big Tujunga Dam was killed Wednesday when his car ran off an embankment, fell about 300 feet and burst into flames, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Authorities identified the dead driver as John F. Forrester, 52, of Sunland, a Department of Public Works employee.
The accident occurred about 8 a.m. when Forrester’s car skidded off of an access road leading from Big Tujunga Canyon Road west to the dam, authorities said. A passer-by alerted authorities, and the county Fire Department responded by helicopter. Forrester was dead at the scene.
