Local News in Brief : Angels Gate Hearing Set
A plan that calls for improving Angels Gate Park in San Pedro by tearing down the complex of former military buildings and putting in soccer fields and landscaping will be on the table at a public hearing Tuesday night.
The proposed Angels Gate Park Master Plan, which is being studied by a citizens committee appointed by Councilwoman Joan Milke Flores, would cost $1.7 million to implement, but city officials say they have only $650,000 to spend.
As a result, the plan will be implemented in phases, and it will be up to the citizens committee--and the residents--to recommend which parts of the park should be developed first.
Flores and officials of the city Department of Recreation and Parks will present the plan at Tuesday’s hearing, which is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Peck Park Recreation Center, 560 N. Western Ave., San Pedro.
