Foreigners continue to own just under 1% of U.S. agricultural land, slightly more than the level of a year ago, the Agriculture Department said. The USDA found 12.5 million acres in foreign hands, 202,000 acres more than in 1986. Corporations held 80% of the land, with the balance held by individuals, partnerships, institutions and other entities. As in the past, 69% of the ownership is concentrated in Great Britain, Canada, West Germany, the Netherlands Antilles and Switzerland.
