County Dedicates Fire Station 27 in Commerce
COMMERCE — The county Fire Department has dedicated Station 27 at 6031 Rickenbacker Road. It has an engine, a truck and a utility vehicle, and has a staff of 10 on-duty firefighters per shift plus five fire prevention inspectors.
The two-story station, built for more than $1 million, replaces the now-closed Station 27 at 5605 E. Sheila St. which was built in 1951.
Battalion chiefs in charge of the three shifts are Jay Corbett, David Baisley and Frank Brown. Michael D. Aviani is assistant chief.
In addition to Commerce, the station serves Bell Gardens, Bell, unincorporated areas of East Los Angeles and, in the event of two-alarm fires, Huntington Park.
