College Roundup : Mike Carroll Leaves UCI for Virginia Tech
Mike Carroll, UC Irvine’s associate athletic director the past three years, has accepted a position at Virginia Tech beginning July 1.
Carroll, who has been in charge of development and promotions, came to Irvine in 1982 as an assistant athletic director. He has managed intercollegiate athletic promotions, marketing and fund-raising.
Carroll will become director of development for athletic programs at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va. He is a graduate of North Carolina State and has a master’s degree in sports administration from Ohio University.
The Cal State Fullerton baseball team, which is awaiting an expected bid to the NCAA regionals, has scheduled three public scrimmages at Titan Field.
The Titans will scrimmage against Pepperdine at 7 tonight and Friday and against Loyola Marymount at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Fullerton (37-16) is expected to receive a bid when the 48-team NCAA field is completed Monday.
