In a speech to the International Aviation Club in Washington, Federal Aviation Administration chief T. Allan McArtor announced he is assigning 13 people within the FAA to a special office that will deal exclusively with illegal drug trafficking issues. McArtor told reporters later that he was not ready to provide details as to exactly what the new office would do except to say it would coordinate the agency’s543516262illegal drugs by air. He said the FAA officials would have no enforcement or police powers.
