There are 245 separate acts of violence in “Rambo III,” according to the National Coalition of Television Violence, which claims the movie is a “glorification of war and hatred.” The coalition said that the new film, which grossed more than $20 million in its first week in release, features 123 killings and twice the violence of Sylvester Stallone’s previous outings. The coalition also complained that, just as Soviet troops are withdrawing from Afghanistan and President Reagan conceded that his characterization of the Soviet Union as “the evil empire” does not apply any longer, the Communist-bashing “Rambo” portrays the Soviets as sadists, rapists and torturers who murder little children.
