CAMPAIGN ’88 : Olympia Dukakis Loses

Actress Olympia Dukakis lost her bid to be a delegate for her cousin, Michael, at the Democratic National Convention in Atlanta next month. She went down to defeat as part of a slate of Dukakis delegates in Tuesday’s New Jersey primary when her Newark-area district opted for a Jackson delegation.
But the winner of this year’s Academy Award for best supporting actress took comfort in her supporting role in the New Jersey primary, in which Dukakis won a big majority of delegates.
