Will there be fireworks at Wimbledon? With preliminaries out of the way, NBC will court viewers by covering the grand tennis tournament’s finals on this Fourth of July weekend.

The network will set aside five hours today (8 a.m.-1 p.m.) for the women’s finale between Martina Navratilova and Steffi Graf, with the men’s showdown due Sunday in a six-hour telecast starting at 8 a.m. on Channels 4, 36 and 39.

Wimbledon will be followed by baseball today on NBC as the California Angels and Detroit Tigers go to bat at 1:15 p.m. On Sunday, the teams can be seen at 10:30 a.m. on Channel 5.

In golf, CBS will carry the Western Open from Oak Brook, Ill., today at 3 p.m. (2)(8) on a tape-delay. The network’s live coverage of the final round will air Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
