Transient Held After Bombs Found in Truck
Several pipe bombs discovered in the open bed of a pickup truck parked outside a Canoga Park liquor store were detonated by bomb squad experts early Saturday, and the driver was arrested, Los Angeles police said.
Officers responding to a report of a man with a gun stopped Frank Salado, 39, a transient, outside a liquor store on Topanga Canyon Boulevard near Saticoy Street about 9:30 p.m. Friday, police said.
The officers spotted the pipe bombs in the back of the truck Salado was driving, police said. He was booked on suspicion of possession of an explosive device and held on $5,000 bail.
