Small Quake Hits Near Upland
From Times Wire Services
A small, early morning earthquake rumbled through a wide area of Southern California today. No injuries or damage were reported, but police and fire stations from Glendale to Covina and throughout the San Gabriel Valley received numerous calls from residents startled awake at 3:55 a.m.
The quake measured 3.7 on the Richter scale and was centered four miles northwest of Upland, said Robert Finn, a spokesman for the seismology laboratory at Caltech. He said it was an aftershock of the June 26 Upland quake, which measured 4.5.
