Local News in Brief : El Segundo Manager’s Salary OKd
El Segundo’s new city manager will receive a monthly salary of $7,200 under a resolution approved Tuesday by council members.
Council members also voted to give Fred Sorsabal, who last month agreed to take the job after initially telling council members he did not want it, a car allowance of $300 a month, plus medical and other benefits.
Sorsabal’s monthly paycheck translates into an annual salary of $86,400. While serving as the city’s interim city manager--a post he assumed in January--he was paid $6,000 a month.
Sorsabal previously served as Costa Mesa’s city manager. He replaced Art Jones, who retired last December after nearly 20 years in the job.
