Local News in Brief : Police Seek Missing Mentally Retarded Man
Los Angeles police are looking for a 27-year-old mentally retarded man with epilepsy who was reported missing from a home he was visiting in Arleta on July 4.
Robert Demers of Sun Valley said his son, David, who lives in a home for the mentally retarded, was visiting a similar home in the 9800 block of Woodale Avenue when a worker reported him missing about 5 p.m. Monday.
Demers said his son takes medication for his epileptic condition and apparently removed his medical identification bracelet, found at the house, while doing some work.
Los Angeles Police Detective Carl Lou of the missing persons division said police are checking major hospitals and jails for information on the missing man.
Police have also entered his description in the National Crime Information Center computer, alerting all major law-enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for him, Lou said.
He is described as white with blond hair and blue eyes, 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighing about 135 pounds. He is believed to be wearing a white T-shirt and tan pants.
