Local News in Brief : Gang Member Sentenced
A reputed gang member was sentenced Friday to 12 years in prison by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Samuel Mayerson for the Feb. 15 shooting of a Crenshaw man who was trying to keep drug dealers from storing drugs in broken-down cars in an alley behind his apartment.
A jury on June 2 found Kenneth Madden, 24, guilty of assault with a deadly weapon while acquitting him of attempted murder in the shooting of Michael Campbell.
Campbell, 27, a father of four who had recently moved to Los Angeles, was shot after a heated argument and spent four days at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after abdominal surgery.
