Gary Adamson was named president of Universal Far West, a Huntington Beach lumber company. He succeeds John P. Weston, who has retired after 50 years in the lumber business. Adamson had previously been executive vice president of Universal Forest Products, the parent of Universal Far West that is based in Grand Rapids, Mich.
