Portuguese Man-of-War Sting Kills Scuba Diver

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — A scuba diver stung by a Portuguese man-of-war was killed by an unusually severe allergic reaction to the venom, marine wildlife and medical officials said Wednesday. Robbie Hastings, 30, of Riverside, Md., died Monday after surfacing into the tentacles of the jellyfish-like marine organism off the coast of North Carolina.
