L’Affaire Mighty Mouse refuses to die. After a clutch of “media watchdogs” last week condemned an April episode of “Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures” for allegedly portraying drug use, at least one local government is getting into the fray. The Dallas City Council on Wednesday unanimously adopted a resolution condemning CBS, the network that airs the animated series, after Councilman Charles Tandy showed a still from the April 23 episode in which Mighty Mouse sniffs a light-colored substance. “What else do people snort up their noses but cocaine?” said Tandy, an anesthesiologist. On Thursday, CBS said series producer Ralph Bakshi asked that the network cut the troublesome 3 1/2 seconds of the episode before its fourth broadcast. Declared Bakshi in a prepared statement: “Those 3 1/2 seconds have been taken totally out of context by individuals who seem to be searching for sinister undertones in a cartoon that is absolutely innocent.”
