Local News in Brief : Ex-Roommate of Slain Man Sought by Police
Los Angeles police said Monday that they are still looking for a woman who fled from a Panorama City apartment where her former roommate and a woman were shot to death.
Police said Charisse Brown, 33, was seen leaving the apartment in the 8100 block of Lennox Avenue shortly after the 2 p.m. shooting Sunday. She was believed to have been carrying the gun used in the slayings, police said.
Authorities identified the victims as Jewel Prude, 34, the man who lived in the apartment with Brown until she moved out a few days before the shooting, and Shirley Marie Johnson, 35, who may have been in the process of moving into the apartment.
Detective Mel Arnold said investigators are attempting to find out where Brown, who is pregnant, moved after taking her belongings from Prude’s apartment Thursday or Friday.
On Sunday afternoon, Prude and Johnson left the apartment to go shopping, and Brown let herself in while they were gone, Arnold said. The shooting occurred shortly after Prude and Johnson returned, Arnold said.
