Local News in Brief : Fullerton : College Gives Grants to 15 Incoming Students
Fullerton College has awarded scholarships totaling $4,500 to 15 June graduates of area high schools. The scholarships are to cover the cost of enrollment fees and books for the students’ freshman year at the college.
The scholarships were awarded on the basis of academic achievement and extracurricular activities, along with a prediction of similar achievement at the college, said Richard D. DeVecchio, vice president of student development and services.
He added that the typical recipient of such scholarships had a high-school grade-point average of about 3.7.
Recipients included: Buena Park High School student Gary Polston of Fullerton; El Dorado High School student Cynthia Lance of Placentia; Magnolia High School students Inonut Iorga, Julianne Kadlec and Kelly McDonald, all of Anaheim; Orange High School students Craig Matthews and Denise Trenner, both of Orange; Troy High School student Ramon Quinones of Fullerton; Valencia High School student Amy Acton of Placentia, and La Habra High School students Karen Chung, Valerie Edwards and Ricardo Santana of La Habra, and Trinidad Lopez and Trisha Williams of Whittier.
