Fierstein Fallout

How can Calendar print such nasty and bigoted letters (July 24) as appeared in response to the Harvey Fierstein article? (“When Hearts Were Young and Gay,” July 17)

One asked, “How many permanent relationships does a homosexual have in a lifetime?” My life-partner and I have been together for 15 years. Among our close friends, the couples--male or female--have been together 25, 22, 17, 16, 12, 11, 10, 6 and 4 years. Look at heterosexual people you know and see how their record for permanency compares.
