20-Acre Fire Controlled After 4 Hours
From a Times Staff Writer
A brush fire near the intersection of the Riverside Freeway and Gypsum Canyon Road destroyed more than 20 acres of vegetation Saturday before being brought under control by Orange County firefighters, according to Debby Duncan, a dispatcher.
It took more than 80 firefighters, using 12 engines and a helicopter dropping water, about four hours to bring the blaze under control.
There were no reported injuries and no structures were threatened, Duncan said.
The cause of the fire, the second in the area in the past few days, is still under investigation.
