Green Light for ‘Red Flag’ Limo
Associated Press
BEIJING — The Red Flag, the hulking black limousine preferred by many of China’s top leaders, will return to production in 1989, the official People’s Daily reported this weekend.
The Changchun No. 1 Motor Vehicle Plant in northeast China is to resume production of the car, where it had been built between 1958 and 1980, the paper said.
China produced 1,516 of the Red Flag limos. Some top leaders, including Deng Xiaoping, still use them.
