Democratic Convention
The Rev. Jesse Jackson’s speech at the convention will go down in history along with Martin Luther King’s “I Had a Dream” speech. When a politician, speaking with the passion of his convictions, can move his audience to tears, he has indeed been blessed with a great gift. The rapt attention, the eager, shining faces, both black and white, prove that people do respond and will listen when the messenger has something meaningful to say. His words of love and hope flowed over the listeners binding them together in a unity not often seen anymore.
His five beautiful, clean-cut and articulate children were a rare treat indeed; proof of what can be accomplished by a close-knit and loving family. The Jackson children are beautiful examples of family unity. The neglect of children is a specter that is even now rising to haunt us!
