Huntington Beach : Police Hold Suspect in Robbery, Hit-Run
A 33-year-old construction worker was arrested Saturday as a suspect in a robbery attempt at a Huntington Beach Del Taco and a hit-and-run collision moments later, police said.
Martin Keith Fritz of Garden Grove was being held at the Huntington Beach City Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail, Lt. Patrick Gildea said.
A man pulled up to the drive-through window of the Del Taco restaurant, 20921 Magnolia Ave., at 12:15 p.m. and ordered a burrito, police said.
The man then confronted a clerk, demanded money and indicated that he had a weapon. When she ran from the order window the would-be robber drove away without any loot.
“At approximately the same time,” Gildea said, a black Ford Ranchero struck another car near the Del Taco and the driver fled. Police said the Ranchero was followed by the victim, who called officers on a car phone.
Police chased the Ranchero by ground and air, and Fritz was arrested.
