Yale rallied to beat Cambridge at the Internationaux D’Aviron regatta at Mandelieu, France.
The eight-man Yale crew won the 500-meter race on the La Siagne Canal by 1.2 seconds over its British rival.
Yale defeated Harvard in a preliminary race by nearly a length, while Cambridge advanced to the final by beating Oxford by more than a length.
Yale’s win over Harvard was its first this year after three defeats.
About 10,000 fans lined the banks of the canal to watch the fifth annual regatta, which featured crews from 12 countries.
