Field Goal Gives Saints a 23-20 Win
MINNEAPOLIS — Morten Andersen’s 36-yard field goal as time expired gave the New Orleans a 23-20 exhibition victory over the Minnesota Vikings Sunday night.
Third-string quarterback John Fourcade set up the winning kick with passes of 14 yards to Stacey Dawsey and 16 yards to Brett Perriman and two scrambles for 15 yards.
Fourcade passed to Robert Clark for a 44-yard touchdown play with nine minutes left to put the Saints ahead, 20-13.
But Rich Gannon’s 26-yard scoring pass to Reginald Ward with 1:35 remaining tied the game before Fourcade marched the Saints from their 29-yard line to set up Andersen’s second field goal of the game.
