Scrub Brush Fire Chars 1,073 Acres
Associated Press
CABAZON, Calif. — A fire believed to have been set by an arsonist grew to 1,073 acres Friday but firefighters working in the rugged San Jacinto Mountains predicted full control by early today, a spokesman said.
Four minor injuries were reported among the 623 firefighters, said Tim Spann, spokesman for the California Department of Forestry.
The Riverside County blaze, between Barker and Cabazon peaks and on part of the Morongo Indian Reservation, was consuming scrub and had not reached any timber, Spann said.
