FIRST OFF . . .
“Lies and Legends, The Musical Stories of Harry Chapin,” another hit at the Pasadena Playhouse (which has been cranking them out lately, when you consider last year’s “Mail” and this year’s “Born Yesterday”), will be moving Oct. 9 to the Beverly Canon Theatre in Beverly Hills. George Ball, John Herrera, Amanda McBroom, Ron Orbach and Valerie Perri, all featured in this musical revue, will be moving with it. Plans call for an open-ended run. Producers of the show in its new venue will be Susan Dietz (artistic director of the Pasadena Playhouse), Joseph Stern (who produced the earliest version in 1977 at the Improv, when it was simply called “Chapin”) and Sam Weisman (the show’s director, who also was one of its performers in the 1977 incarnation). Previews at the Beverly Canon begin Oct. 6.
