Lawrence Taylor of the New York Giants, suspended by the NFL Monday for repeated drug use, said he fears his habit may destroy his life.
“I’m not going to worry about what will happen to me 30 days from now,” Taylor said in a television interview. “I’ll still be alive 30 days from now, I hope. . . . I’m worried about what’s going to happen the rest of my life.
“I worked hard in the off-season to get physically ready and mentally ready for the season. I wasn’t going out much. As training camp wore on, I found myself going out and ordering a couple of beers, and beers turned into mixed drinks. On Wednesday, I made a bad decision, and I’ll pay the price for that.”
