Berating the Emmys
Howard Rosenberg and I must have been watching two different versions of the Emmy awards TV show, which he loved (“ ‘Sunday Night Live’ From Downtown Pasadena,” Aug. 29).
My eyelids felt like 1,000-pound weights--in three little words, “What a bore!”
Where were Uncle Miltie Berle, Danny Thomas, Tony Randall, Merv Griffin, George Burns, Raymond Burr, Alan Alda, Bob Newhart, Lucille Ball, Hal Linden, Jack Klugman, James Garner, Robert Wagner, etc.?
They should have been presenters, not people like Mike Tyson and his bride! It would have been nice to see some familiar faces who helped shape television during the Golden Years and who will never go out of style.
