Cyclists Respect Law Enforcement

I would like to clarify some of the wrong impressions made in the Aug. 19 article “A Pack of Trouble on Wheels.”

Those who participate in the CSUN ride do not think it is funny when law-enforcement officials try to enforce the rules of the road. We do not laugh when we run a stop sign. We take the law very seriously and respect all law-enforcement officials. We do not intentionally block traffic and strongly encourage safe training.

It is difficult to get a serious training ride started in a large metropolitan area. This ride has a good reputation in the community. There have been virtually no complaints regarding our activity, which has been going on for years. This ride is important to our weekly training schedule. Negative articles do nothing to help promote the nation’s No. 1 recreational activity.

The article made us look like a bunch of rebellious punks instead of a group of athletes. We appreciate your interest but hope future articles would reflect the nature of the sport.
