Felfe, Likely Successor to Honecker, Dies at 60

EAST BERLIN — East German Politburo member and agriculture chief Werner Felfe, widely regarded as a possible successor to veteran Communist Party leader Erich Honecker, died today at 60, the official ADN news agency said. It gave no other details, but Western diplomats said his death was unexpected because he was examining the grain harvest until a few days ago.
