2 Shot in Fight Over Bike, Police Say
Two brothers were shot at their home in Santa Ana late Friday night after a quarrel with neighbors over a bicycle, police said Saturday.
Maydale B. Benton, 25, was listed in critical condition Saturday at UCI Medical Center, where he was being treated for a gunshot wound that possibly shattered his spine. Willis H. Benton, 33, was being treated at the hospital for a gunshot wound in the left arm.
Three Santa Ana men who live nearby were taken into custody soon after the 10:36 p.m. attack in the 1700 block of West Myrtle Street. David C. Peterson, 19; Adrian A. Montgomery, 20, and Ray A. Lewis, 26, were booked at Orange County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder.
The suspects were arrested as they ran from the scene, and a .357 magnum believed used in the attack was recovered, police said.
