Consider a situation where the two superpowers have deployed space defense systems that include nuclear X-ray lasers. If each country’s X-ray lasers have the capability to destroy the other’s X-ray lasers and other space weapons or space systems, the clear advantage is to the nation that attacks first. Such a situation is extremely unstable. “Star Wars” is not just a bad idea, it is a horror.
