Loyola Squeaks by USD at Volleyball
Loyola Marymount University volleyball boosters were selling “Homecourt Advantage” T-shirts during Thursday’s match, but it took the Lions five games to fulfill the fashion prophecy.
The Lions managed to overcome a 6-0 deficit in the fifth game to beat the University of San Diego, 15-4, 11-15, 10-15, 15-7, 15-8 in both teams’ West Coast Athletic Conference opener. The Lions play their second WCAC match at 7:30 tonight at home against St. Mary’s.
Loyola improved to 5-6. San Diego, which plays at Pepperdine tonight, is 4-7. Leslie Wohlford led the Lions with 24 kills, with Seham Khalaf adding 18.
