THE OUTDOORS : Trout Are Planted; More Bass Are Biting
Striped bass normally become more active when small trout--their favorite food--are in the water, so it is not surprising that Southern California’s two primary striped bass fisheries yielded good numbers of the popular game fish since receiving trout plants last Thursday.
Pyramid Lake in Los Angeles County and Lake Silverwood in San Bernardino County each reported their best striper fishing this fall.
Paul Selkirk of Simi Valley, fishing at Pyramid Lake, caught and released 10 stripers between 10-18 pounds. Meanwhile, Riverside’s Jay Anderson and West Stevensen, fishing at Silverwood, teamed to catch 4 stripers weighing a total of 65 pounds.
