The Writers Guild of America West has barred one television executive and three writers from any future membership because they worked on scripts during the recent writers’ strike. Guild spokeswoman Cheryl Rhoden said Monday that MGM-TV President David Gerber and writers Alex Cox, Robert Myman and Theresa (Todd) Davies had been barred from doing any more guild-sanctioned work. The three writers, Rhoden said, admitted working during the strike, but Gerber--whom the guild accused of having performed rewrites on his company’s “Dirty Dozen” series while the 22-week strike was in full bloom--has not responded to the charges. (Gerber was not available for comment on the guild action Monday.) Rhoden added that the guild will be “closely examining” membership applications from aspiring guild members for possible scab work during the strike.
